The Lord spoke to Moses saying have the children of Israel observe Passover in the appointed time. The children who are unable for reasons of being defiled at the time or is out of the area at the time will be allowed to observe the Passover on fourteenth day of the second month instead of the first month. This is the second Passover since the children have came out of Egypt. The Cloud and the Fire are the place the Lord resides in the presence of the children of Israel. The cloud would hover over the the tabernacle by day and the fire by night. When the cloud would move up and on the children of Israel would break camp and move on and the children would settle wherever the cloud settles. The Lord directed Moses to make two silver trumpets and used them to signal the people of Israel. When both are blown all the people of Israel will gather at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. One blow only would only call to the leaders to gather. The priests were the ones commanded to sound the trumpets for advance, gathering, alarms and alerts of all kinds. Once the second Passover was complete and the tabernacle was finally finished the cloud moved on and the people were called to move on from Mt. Sinai. As the ark was set out Moses spoke:
"Rise up, O Lord!
Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You."
Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You."
And when it rested, he said:
"Return, O Lord,
To the many thousands of Israel."
The people start to complain and it displeased the Lord as He heard it. The fire of the Lord burned some of the people on the outskirts. Moses prayed to the Lord and the fire was extinguished. The Lord had Moses call 70 elders of the people to him in the tabernacle of meeting to help share the Load upon Moses. The Lord fed the people as He said. The Lord sends quail to feed the people. There is a dissension of Aaron and Miriam. They talked to the Lord and the Lord was displeased with them. The Lord had Moses send a spy from each tribe of Israel and check out the Land of Canaan (the promised land). Only two were ready to go and take the promised land but the other 10 were not fearful and didn't have faith in the Lord.
Numbers 9-13 -
This time in History has always intrigued me especially the faith of Joshua and Caleb. I so admire the belief and the faith that these Two men remained faithful to the promises of the Lord even amongst the fearful failure of faithless others around them. You know that this would be a trying time for these two men to have to face the crowd of naysayers. I have an enormous respect for these men standing firm in their faith to the Lord's promises.
Father I thank you for your love and your sacrifice and your gift to each of us, to me. I pray you help me to gain the confidence and the determination of faith to the promises of the Lord. I wish to receive you in all your glory and to share you in all your promises. I ask that you help me to submit to your divine authority and do nothing that wouldn't glorify and honor you. I love you Father. In the beautiful wonderful gracious precious humble name of Christ Jesus, Amen!
