Judah and Tamar --> Joseph in charge of Egypt

Judah is leaves his family and married a Canaanite woman. He had three sons, he found a wife for his eldest (Tamar). His son died before having children, then Judah had his second son marry her and he dies before having children. Then he had her go back home to her father's home until his youngest son comes of age to marry. Judah's daughter dies and Judah is comforted. He goes out to his sheep shearers and Tamar found out and she disguises herself as a harlot and she fools Judah and he beds her and she becomes with child. Judah still didn't know this was his daughter-in-law until she was three months with child and she bore twins Perez and Zerah.

Genesis 38

Joseph was taken to Egypt as a slave, he was taken by Potiphar a captain of the guard for Pharaoh. Potiphar seen the favor of the Lord upon Joseph and put him in charge of all his household. Potiphar's wife took a liking to Joseph and tried to seduce him day after day, but he continued to refuse her over and over. One day she had no one home and she tried again and Joseph fled her and she had his coat while he fled. She claimed he tried to take her because he kept refusing her. Potiphar had Joseph put into Pharaoh's prison. Now the prison warden seen the favor of the Lord upon Joseph and he put him in charge of all the prisoners and all in the prison. During his time in there the Pharaoh put his baker and his butler in there. They both had dreams and Joseph correctly interpreted both of them. He asked that when the butler remember him with the Pharaoh when he got out. The butler forgot, until one day the Pharaoh had a dream and no one could interpret it and the butler told the Pharaoh about Joseph and his interpretation of it. The Pharaoh told them to bring him immediately. Joseph was brought before Pharaoh and he interpreted the dream of Pharaoh. Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of the entire country except of him. Joseph was correct in his interpretation of the Pharaoh's dreams of 7 years of prosperity and then followed by 7 years of famine. So with Joseph's knowledge of the famine he made Egypt the only country to have food during the famine. Everyone in the surrounding countries came to Egypt for food.

Genesis 39-41

I have always thought that this was one of the most amazing stories of the Bible. Joseph and how he continued to be blessed and that all those around him and over him seen the favor of the Lord upon his life. In all his trouble at least from our view he still was living and honoring God in all he did. He continued to give honor and glory to God in his life. I have always looked up to Joseph and his attitude towards life.

Father we give you all the honor and glory this day and every day. I wish to thank you for all your blessings upon my life and my understanding of your word. I thank you for giving me the ability to understand read and reflect your Word in all I study. I pray you continue to give me a greater understanding of your Word as I continue to study it. I ask all this in the heavenly blessed humbled gracious marvelous name above all names, Amen!
